- Created as a joint project by the union United Steel Workers Local 675 and worker center Koreatown Immigrant Workers Alliance, which is funded by labor unions and the union-funded National Employment Law Project.
- Funded by progressive foundations such as the Public Welfare Foundation, the Liberty Hill Foundation, and the New World Foundation.
- Before it became “independent,” it helped unionize the first carwash in U.S. history and helped the United Steel Workers with its broader unionizing efforts.
